Last winter I went to the P.1 admission interview with my son and I felt sorry after visiting the school.
There was a notice in the covered playground saying ..."put away the equipment(s) (sic!)" - which is clearly a grammatical mistake.
We were then shown a video recording while waiting for the interview. One of the titles says 嘉賓提名. How can you nonimate your guests of honour? It should read as 嘉賓題名.
Please do not expect the teachers to teach your children good languages.

Hi !
I love your writing.
Hi Other Readers: please don't expect your children would learn too much from the teacher. Actually, if you are educated, trust yourself and be the best teacher for your kid.
The impressive teachers are actually very rare in the world!

Thank you for your response.
My botton line is that if we are paying a not-so-cheap tuition fee for DSS schooling, we should expect a certain level of quality control on the teachers. We cannot let them ruin our next generation.
All parents should play a more active role in making the school a better place for our children, and not just participating in the extra-currilar activities organized by the schools.

Which DSS school are you talking about?
Is it 港大同學會, which is a new school, starting from Year 2002, may be they have to educate the teachers and to become established. School Fee HKD 15,000. <I have a primary school guide with me, as I am seriously considered the primary school for the kid >
How about St Paul Co-Edu? What do you think?

It is almost impossible for children not somewhere related to the school be admitted to St. Paul Co-ed. The so called 'somewhere related' means either
1. going to one of the elite kindergarten, it seems that all DSS and private primary schools have a reference to these kindergarten, or
2. having brother or sister studying or graduating from St. Paul Co-ed, or
3. officially becoming a mmeber of SKH.
My suggestion is that do not push your child into the system until you are quite sure that you can achieve the result. Moreover, the result - much harder primary education and more than one hour's homework everyday - may not be your cup of tea after all.
Some children do not "open their mind" until a later stage of development and you have to make a serious judgement on that.
